HELP US SERVE MORE CHILDREN IN ARIZONA

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) are compassionate adults who fight for and protect a child’s right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect, and to learn and grow in the security of a loving family.

CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to advocate for a child’s best interests. They stay with the child until their case is closed and they reach a safe, permanent home. Volunteers work with legal and child welfare professionals, educators and others to ensure that judges have all the information they need to make potentially life-changing decisions for each child.

SERVING CHILDREN IN CRISIS

Children who have experienced abuse or neglect face a frightening, profound unknown. Courtrooms. Foster care. New schools. A revolving door of well-meaning professionals. All while dealing with the trauma of abuse or neglect.

At CASA of Arizona, we strive to ensure that no child faces the dependency court and foster systems alone.

CASA volunteers make sure the child is safe, has the shortest possible road to a permanent home and has the opportunity to thrive.

THE POWER OF A CARING ADULT

During a child’s time in the system, he or she might have dozens of social workers, attorneys, therapists, teachers and caregivers—but will have only one CASA volunteer. For many, their CASA volunteer is the one consistent person in their life.

Having a caring, consistent adult to listen and put a child’s best interests before all others’ can make all the difference.

CASA volunteers are there to support children at the most challenging time in their lives. Multiple studies have shown that children who have experienced abuse or neglect fare better with a CASA volunteer by their side.

BECOME A CASA VOLUNTEER

There are far too many children in our community who still need the powerful advocacy of a CASA volunteer. Serving every child who needs a volunteer is possible, but we can’t do it alone. With your help, we can recruit, train and support more volunteers to stand up for children who have experienced abuse or neglect.

CHANGING PAMELA’S STORY

“When I was 7, I remember my mom waking me up. She was grabbing our stuff and screaming, ‘The cops are coming!’ I heard the sirens and all the yelling. I was hiding under a car and a policeman pulled me out, and then I watched as my mom faded away.

To me, my CASA means a trusted advocate. A friend. When you’re young no one listens to you and when you’re in the foster care system people really don’t listen to you. To give a child a CASA is to give them a voice. To give them a voice is to give them hope. To give them hope is to give them the world. I believe that with all my heart. I don’t know what I’d do without my CASA volunteer. I don’t want to know.”
